The benefits of wireless vibration sensor.
Bluetooth® is supported by most modern Android tablets and phones without the need for additional hardware. This allows us to use lower cost hardware to provide our application the benefits from the rapid improvement of android devices without worrying about specific hardware support. Some of our competitors use other wireless protocols such as ZigBee, which is similar to Bluetooth® LE but would require a gateway or other hardware to connect to it to get the data. Using Bluetooth® allows us to benefit from the developments of others, such as the integrated thermal camera in the Caterpillar Android phones (S60 and S61). It also reduces the total cost of the package. 1 Android device could be used to collect from 1000 MSF-1 sensors,
whereas using ZigBee you would need numerous gateways and range extenders, massively increasing the cost. Machine Sentry MSF-1 uses two different Bluetooth® versions, Bluetooth® Classic and Bluetooth® Low Energy (LE). Bluetooth® LE is currently used primarily to find and switch the device on, after which the faster Classic connection is used to transfer the data.
