As Machine Sentry® sensors are tri-axial, meaning it has the ability to capture vibration in the X, Y and Z axis, one sensor or capture is usually recommended per bearing location for rotating equipment. For typical assets that have a mounted shaft distance between bearings of up to 12 inches (30.48 cm), one sensor mounted in between bearings is acceptable.
